| You don't expect some company to be a victim for your inexperienced transcriptions? So, better join some company that is willing to mentor you till you get enough experience to give at least 80 - 85% accuracy. As far as I know you need to give a contract that you don't leave them once you get that experience. |

Look at an accent reduction program. While such programs are normally focused on speech issues, they also provide additional education in the real-world use of English grammar.
US standards on average 97% to 98% for transcription accuracy.
After reading several posts here, I thought I would try to give you a couple of tips that really could assist you - in all of your communication with and for US-based work opportunities. |

HI, freshman, not all companies look for emperienced MT's these days as it is very difficult to get them becuase of attrition and moving up of careers. I know lots of companies who are still recruiting freshers to train as well as absorb into their production unit. _________________ Jobs World |

Dear US MT:
The MT work in India goes through various stages. The final output is 100% accuracy or near about within the TAT. Other than multinational MT companies having their subsidiaries in India, large MTSOs in the States mostly outsource MT dictations to MTSOs in India who then pass on the work to smaller units. Some of these smaller units take in more work than they can handle. So these smaller units get work done from homebased MTs who can give +92% accuracy to them for QA. HBMTs are trained MTs with full time work experience of some years in the MT industry. Even large multinational MT companies based in India are recruiting HBMTs. The HBMT source works out cheaper for such units though the trend now is for HBMTs demanding higher line count rates or fixed salaries to offset little to no work on some days.
Do not think that as English is a second language for us, we are any less in English fluenzy be it British or American English. For the fact, the English grammar of English speaking Indians in India is far better than that of Americans or British. Finally, English fluenzy plays no role in MT. What one needs is an ability to listen and understand English and have good English grammar skills.
I do come across incorrect views of Indian MTs at MT Stars and such like American forums where their members try to downplay us. I am afraid this is more out of insecurity due to outsourcing than professional. American economy is capitalist where everybody is out to make profits, which has driven up the cost of living. All education including being a doctor is costly. Being a capitalist economy, naturally a physician will try to get maximum return for his investment in education and setting up and running a clinic. With the insurance company demanding lower medical bills, the only alternative is to get the transcription, coding, billing done cheaper from third world countries rather than American MTs who like their counterparts are also looking for the best returns on their investment and to meet the cost of living. This is a catch-22 situation that all Americans including physicians and MTs find themselves in. It is your own doing. How are we to blame? For self gain, you want to export your warplanes and bombs to us. Then you will have to import our low cost skills like that of transcription. Even your aspiring new President can do nothing about it. |
